ABOUT EUSKADI

BIODIVERSITY
Nature at a stone's throw from civilisation
Wide plains, mountain massifs with magnificent routes, green woods, awesome cliffs, rich marshes and relaxing beaches. Nature lovers have a lot to discover in Euskadi. Its uneven landscapes' diversity and beauty is evident not only in the established natural parks, but in most part of the territory.

BASQUES IN THE WORLD
Basques in History
Over the centuries, Basques have produced a number of great men who have left their mark on history: Men like Juan Sebastián Elcano, first man to sail around the world between 1519 and 1521; Urdaneta and Legazpi, pioneers of the Pacific route between Mexico and the Philippines; Juan de Garay, founder of Buenos Aires; Simon Bolivar, liberator of much of colonial South America; Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Jesuits; and Francisco de Vitoria, one of the forefathers of International Law.

CULTURE
A country of culture
An enormous mixture of music, cinema, dance, theatre. The Basque Country simply oozes with culture thanks to a number of high-ranking festivals. If international stars and new directors come together at the San Sebastian International Film Festival, Bilbao is the meeting place for bel canto voices during its opera season and Vitoria-Gasteiz for the best jazz musicians, who also visit Getxo and Donostia-San Sebastián.
